For people looking to learn about the sport I've come to love, you'd start with the basics; bump, set and spike. The essentials to the game that will have you right in the heat of the moment. Learning this sport not only gives you a new hobby, but also could bring you to a new found passion for being at the beach; a place that has a love/hate relationship with many people. This article will take a simple look into the essentials of beach volleyball, ranging from the equipment needed to the basic rules of the game itself. Vocabulary list:
Volleyball Net - a net placed within the middle of the court dividing the area between the two teams, which the volleyball must pass over.
Bump - the action of hitting a ball that is below the head, or at your platform, and is typically used as the first touch to receive a serve or to receive a hard driven hit.
Set - an overhead pass used to change the direction of the dig and put the ball in a good position for the player going to spike the ball.
Spike -the strategy used to send the ball over the net to the opponent in such a manner that ball is not returnable
Essential -absolutely necessary; extremely important.
Equipment - the necessary items for a particular purpose
Passion -a strong feeling of excitement for something or about doing something.
